Parking Laakirchen is a truck parking lot located in the town of Laakirchen, Austria.
This parking lot is intended for clients of the Laakirchen Paper Mill.
The parking can accommodate approximately 25 trucks. It has a restroom and a shower with hot water. However, the hot water is not always available as there is an electric boiler, which occasionally breaks down or simply doesn’t heat up fast enough if many drivers take showers.
You can take a 9-hour break here. We even stayed over the weekend, as the loading was almost at midnight on Friday, so we didn’t have time to drive further. There were no security issues.
Below, near the factory, flows the Traun River, which is cold and clean. Swimming there is most likely prohibited, but at our own risk, we went in anyway. It was great – we swam quietly, left no trash, and there were no problems.
A 7-10 minute walk away, there are a few stores, small supermarkets, including a Hofer grocery store, though I don’t remember the other names. I even saw a truck parked there, but of course, the parking is only for cars. When there aren’t many cars, it is technically possible to park a truck there.
The parking lot is located near the A1 highway along Road 144.
Previously, in 2021, the entrance to the parking lot was free, but I don’t have current information, so it’s possible that the factory has since installed a barrier.
